I read an article recently about how Latina news anchors on Hispanic news channels wear heavy handed makeup, tight clothing and have big hair. The reason stated was to cater to the machismo male audience. Now, I'm a Latina, and I've got to say, the machismo male attitude in my culture makes me cringe. Thank God I found a fantastic Mexican husband who shares my values and ideals but is perfectly okay with me walking out of the house with no makeup, a baseball cap and sneakers. And when I do go out, I prefer the look of Latinas like Roselyn Sanchez pictured above. I like light, understated colors and I wear my hair just straight.....big curls are fine once in a while but I can't do it everyday.
