30 Day Skinny Jean Challenge & Jackie Nguyen

Jackie Nguyen
If you read my last post, you know I'm on a mission to lose 1-2 sizes in 30 days so I can fit back into my favorite pair of skinny jeans. So I sat down with Jackie Nguyen of Fast Result Fitness, and here's what he recommends for a healthy approach to weight loss.

Here are Eight Tips From Jackie Nguyen, Orange County's Top Certified Personal Trainer, on how to slim down, tone up and fit into your Skinny Jeans faster.
  1. Try to minimize sodium intake from your meals throughout the day. Excess sodium can make you look bloated because it causes water retention in your cells. USDA recommends to eats less than 2,400 milligrams of sodium per day (http://dietbites.com/Sodium-In-Foods/index.html).
  2. Eat less and move more.
  3. Choose white meat over red meat because white meat contains less fat and cholesterol.
  4. Eat 5-6 small meals per day, instead of 3 big meals. Because you're active throughout the day so what ever Calories you consume are more likely to be used for your daily activity. If you eat a lot amount of calories, and if your body does not use them up, it will store the extra calories as fat.
  5. Rest actively between sets. For example do 25-50 Jumping Jacks or Run in one place for 30 seconds to help burn more calories during your workout.
  6. Do cardio 3-4 times a week for 45 minutes each session or burn 500 calories each training session (whichever come first.)  But make sure to change up the type of cardio exercise you are doing every 2-3 months so your body does not adapt to it and hit a plateau.
  7. Eat less at night because you are more than likely to be less active, so whatever excess calories you consume at night will be converted and stored as fat.
  8. Eat healthy 80% of the time, and 20 % of the other time, Reward yourself by eating your favorite foods or desserts. So for example from Mon-Fri eat healthy, Sat and Sun or Fri and Sat reward yourself so you don’t binge. That does NOT mean eating the entire cake or pizza by yourself, only one-two slice if you're planning to treat yourself for all the hard work you're putting in working out and eating healthy during the weekdays.
